Listen here: Sweet Cat of Mine

Song written and performed by Patrick, based on the song “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond

A bitter old man
You know how much I hate them
Running around and being rude
Making a mess
Flaunting all of their magic
I would curse them if I could . .

Kids, out of bed, seeking out
Finding them, thanks to you
Oh, sweet cat of mine
We will teach these brats some good
Alas I’m just a lousy squib
Though I’d join them if I could

I look in your eyes
And I feel the magic
My life is oh so damned mundane
But if I could so much as
Transform even a toothpick
In this castle I’d not remain

You, do not care, the magic has
Escaped me, but not you
Oh, sweet cat of mine
You don’t judge my lack of skills
Though I’m inclined to just pick
On them all for thrills

Sweet cat of mine, times never seem to be good
Sweet cat of mine, I’d do magic if I could
Sweet cat of mine

  1. Oh, Patrick…seriously. I have a strong dislike for Neil Diamond, but this filk gave me a whole new appreciation for this song! Who writes from Argus Filch’s point of view?! BRILLIANT!! Love it, love it. Thanks for doing this!!
