Went to school he was not so cool
Had a pet that was just a toad
Godric’s house went and chose this mouse
Hard to see why the hat so bestowed
Couldn’t recall any passwords at all,
And potions he sure did foul up
But in the end he stood up to his friends,
And Neville’s courage won the cup!

Neville (Neville) wield that blade
From now on all the kids gonna know Neville the great

And they call him the great snake slayer

Joined the army for Dumbledore
where he learned to fight the foes
Neville’s gran, she finally was a fan
of her son’s boy she now crow(s)
The Sorting Hat in flames on his head
It was a fearsome sight to behold
His hair alight, but he is here to fight
He’s gonna do what he’s been told

    I love it! I especially like that you capture Neville from the beginning of the series right through to the end… in PS Jo sets his fate up perfectly with Dumbledore awarding his points last, making Neville the the hero. And the fangirls surrounding him at the table in the Great Hall in DH are perfectly echoed by your fangirl!

    I say! Corking good tune about that Longbottom chap. I’ve always thought he was rather a dim bulb but I s’pose he’s grown a bit, what with the snake decapitation and all … anyway, smashing song.

    I’m glad you’re enjoying the song – it was a lot of fun to create and sing! Many of our songs can be found on podcast episodes of Filkcast Potter Style, or you can just save the download of the song to your computer, and then load it on your Ipod from there. I hope that helps :)
