Do You Hear What I Hear?

Mars is bright

Listen here: Do You Hear What I Hear?

Written and sung by Ann, based on the song “Do You Hear What I Hear” by Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne

Said the Centaur to the little boy
Do you see what I see?
Way up in the sky, little boy
Do you see what I see?
Bright red, it hangs, shining with its light
See how Mars is so bright tonight
See how Mars is so bright tonight

Said the little boy to Firenze then,
Did you see what I saw?
Slith’rin through the woods from the glen
Did you see what I saw?
A shroud of dark drinking in the blood
From the unicorn in a flood
From the unicorn in a flood

Said the little boy to the wizard strong
Do you know why I lived?
You who have lived so very long
Do you know why I lived?
A curse was cast meant to strike me dead
But I’m here with this mark upon my head
But I’m here with this mark upon my head

Said the mighty wizard to the Chosen one
Listen to what I say!
You stopped the evil he’d have done
Listen to what I say!
If each of us fights for what is right
Evil will be overthrown by light
Evil will be overthrown by light.

  1. STOP MAKING ME CRY!!!!!

Harry in that first book is quite innocent and quite wise at the same time. I love the use of “Chosen One,” too! And that little boy did it! He defeated the evil that would drink unicorn blood. And we have to keep fighting, too. I love your filks… they’re like little character summaries!

  2. This is so great!!! It’s sooo true and well written and…. WOW!

  3. Great filk! I love how “the mighty wizard” doesn’t answer Harry’s question…
