Death Eaters and Potions

There are several new filks up on the site, from the Leaky Sisters as well as a friend. Patrick has shared two of his filks with us: Brew It Up and He’s Lord Voldemort Now. Give them a listen!

MJ has a fun new filk: Death Eaters Scare Me A caution to potential listeners – this song includes language that exceeds a PG13 rating, so may not be appropriate for the kids. Continuing in the Death Eater theme, Ann and MJ have a filk about that mistress of evil, Bellatrix, called Death Eater.

Don’t forget – there is a challenge out for Christmas filks. Pull out the old carols and think Potter! We look forward to receiving your submissions.

New video and a challenge!

Recently, we received a wonderful submission from Bandersnatch and weirdsis, called Stay Close to Me. Once again, weirdsis has performed her magic and set this poignant song into a video format, which can be found in the Filk Video section of the site. Check it out, it is lovely!

OK, all you filkers, we have a challenge for you! The holidays are rapidly approaching and we want to hear and post all your holiday filks. Get those creative juices flowing, and share the results with all of us here.

Love both wonderful and tragic

There are a couple of female artists that we just adore, and so have been drawn to create filks based on their work. The first of these is song of regret from Snape, based on the song “Where I Stood” by the incredible Australian artist Missy Higgins, called Who I Am Without You. The second song is about the connection between the trio, and is called Power of Three. It is based on the tune “Power of Two” by the Indigo Girls. We hope you enjoy these songs, as well as the original artists!

And the hits keep on coming!

We have two more filks for your listening pleasure. The first is a hauntingly beautiful filk by the creative team of weirdsis and Bandersnatch, called Stay Close to Me, set to the great tune “Superman” by Five for Fighting. The Forest Again is one of the most moving chapters in the whole series, and here is another filk to explore that, to join this one.

The other filk is a creation of Aislinn, called Vapormort, which is a conversation between the misty critter hanging out in Albania and the Horcruxes he left behind. It’s set to David Bowie’s tune “Space Oddity.”

There are several more filks in the works, so as usual, check back for updates, and send us your own creations!

Neville and a new video!

And the tunes keep on coming! The Leaky Sisters have a new tune – Neville the Snake Slayer, which is set to the Wings tune “Helen Wheels.” Even better, our friend weirdsis has produced another fantastic video, this time of the song Nothing but the Power of Love, based on John Mayer’s “No Such Thing.” Scroll down the page – the video is third down the list, and is so worth a watch.

More filks are in the works, so check back often, and we’d love to see more submissions too!

Harry’s hardest task

I’m so excited to get this song up on the site! It was bursting to be written, and although I(Ann) can’t seem to stop singing it, I just knew that MJ’s voice would be perfect for it. Once you listen, I’m sure you will agree. I’m Going On is a song that explores Harry’s walk out to face his fate of sacrifice, set to Daughtry’s great tune Home.

More tunes in the works, so check back often!

Carrying on

We have two new filks for your listening pleasure. In Nothing but the Power of Love, Nina and Bandersnatch have Harry singing about his determination to carry on until he has gotten rid of all of the Horcruxes. And even though Fred is dead, in The Twins are Back we learn that the twins are determined to carry on. Enjoy, and look for one or two more filks coming very soon!

…and a new video!

Following the wonderful additions from DMD to the Your Filk section, we now have a video version of our song, Seven Books This is my first attempt at creating a video, so it’s quite exciting to see it published! It wouldn’t have been possible to create without the incredible artwork of Mary GrandPre for the US, and Thomas Taylor, Cliff Wright, Giles Greenfield and Jason Cockcroft for UK covers of the books; Warner Bros. for all of the Harry Potter movie images, and of course none of it would exist without the inspiration of Jo Rowling’s fabulous characters and the wizarding world she created throughout the seven books. Hope you all enjoy it :)
